Wow!! Thank you to everyone who shared beautiful birds and brave stories for our 2027 Calendar Contest! It’s been humbling to witness the love and support of this loyal community over the past month, with entries coming in from all of the country and beyond. We want to shout out all who entered photos, voted for their favs, and inspired each other to make this a great success.
The contest’s top 10 vote-getting birds raised $5066 all on their own, and ALL of the very beloved birds entered in the contest raised a total of $8908, which will go to help many not-yet-loved birds who will need rescuing in the months ahead.
Your support helps us to help birds like Miss Kitty, the little ringneck who tapped at the back door of a kind stranger’s house looking for help, Toby, with a ghastly head wound that he has somehow overcome, brave Emily, who lost a wing to a predator attack, Miss Claudette, who suffered a head injury that claimed the vision in one eye, Dennis (paralysis) and May (neurological symptoms) who met and fell in love in our hospital room, Amelia and Atlas, survivors of a cruel frathouse party trick, and many, many more who need help every day. We could not do this hard and sometimes heartbreaking work without the support of the whole Palomacy community, and we — and the birds — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This contest gives us a welcome opportunity to celebrate the joy of sharing life with pigeons and doves!
